Hey guys,
New Week, new work! Glad to see all the posts last week, lets keep it up!
TONIGHT:
Write a poem that is at least 6 lines! Use the descriptive words form the Lost Battalion. Write as much as you can! The more the better. The poem does not have to rhyme, but do try and capture the feelings, emotions and tragedy of the war in your own creative way.
I can't wait to read them!

black as night. The blood is dark as water.
i fight for my life with one little knife
i wonder if there is anyone to help me in between these trees
my mind is off wondering if i will ever see my family again
now you tell me if i will not cry on these leaves?
i try and crawl so i can maybe see somebody
i have some faith that maybe, just maybe i dont have to worry
then i think back when we was looking at the map
and now i want to shoot them more
kill some more men
Lessons
Today i Learn the true definition of Despair
Of Death
and Of Fear
The blood my rifle wears
Will show my pride for my country
I do this , not for fame or money
Only for my country
Today i learn that Anxiety is an experience
And the ways to kill a man is variuos
Today i only ask for blessings
Before I learn these lessons
Loud gun fire and fear of death every second German soldiers planning to kill any one who stays in there way Families of the soldier with the fear of never again seeing the ones they love Soldiers dieing every 2 seconds Battle lines have begin drawn No is safe untill WWI is over
Death is all around us.
As the puppety continued.
My depression of this won't hold on for much longer.
This is a hell i want no one to go thourgh.
The only we have is at the brothel.
As all sides seek for power.
COME HELP US
Dark clouds are smouldering into red
While down the craters morning burns.
The dying soldier shifts his head
To watch the glory that returns;
He lifts his fingers toward the skies
Where holy brightness breaks in flame;
Radiance reflected in his eyes,
And on his lips a whispered name.
You'd think, to hear some people talk,
That lads go West with sobs and curses,
And sullen faces white as chalk,
Hankering for wreaths and tombs and hearses.
But they've been taught the way to do it
Like Christian soldiers; not with haste
And shuddering groans; but passing through it
With due regard for decent taste.
A warning to the people
The good and the evil
This is war
To the soldier, the civillian
The martyr, the victim
This is war
I here war crys
I and to together are nation will rise
Never forget the are pasted soliders while some die
And we still wait to see what has become of us
Some were killed some were wounded and never healed
I still remember those war crys
When I'm killed, don't think of me
Buried there in Cambrin Wood,
Nor as in Zion think of me
With the Intolerable Good.
And there's one thing that I know well,
I'm damned if I'll be damned to Hell!
So when I'm killed, don't wait for me,
Walking the dim corridor;
In Heaven or Hell, don't wait for me,
Or you must wait for evermore.
You'll find me buried, living-dead
In these verses that you've read.
So when I'm killed, don't mourn for me,
Shot, poor lad, so bold and young,
Killed and gone - don't mourn for me.
On your lips my life is hung:
O friends and lovers, you can save
Your playfellow from the grave.
Wow! I'm reading some really great poetry so far. Keep it up, I'm loving it!
Soldier's Voice
Dilemma comes in my head
Me or him
fight to win or
fight to lost but not to died
Its rainning,cold and more dark
Love or not, i have to appreciate my gun
Screaming, crying was the favorite song there
explosives, bombs, machine guns were the instrument
Dilemma comes in my head
And i choose to survive...
down below
as i fight this war i think will i see the light
i grad my gun an i hold on tight
i get down below onto the cold wet grass
thinking about the horrible nights that had passed
ill never forget the people here with me
getin shot down in rows of one two an threes
so as i get down below onto to this cold cruel ground
i wonder did anybody stop to take a look around
so as u get down and below take a look at the dirt , think about this is where u gonna go with your bloody shirt
