Write a Letter!

1.   Writing Letters from the Depression

Directions: Imagine you are the woman in the picture below, during the Great Depression.  Write a letter as if you are this woman.  Write it to a family member and discuss all of the problems we have talked about today.  Share personal stories in this letter.  DO NOT just mention the problem (for example, do not just say “there is hunger”—talk about your struggles to find food—where do you get it? How does that make you feel?  How much do you get to eat?).   Your letter should be about 1 page handwritten on a separate sheet!

Write TWO thesis sentences for an essay about KONY 2012.

*Hint: Think about what a good essay about this movie could be, then write a thesis statement for it.
**Example: "The movie KONY2012 demonstrates that social media can be used to start a positive movement."
