This Week - February 6th - Imperialism

I hope everyone had a great super bowl weekend. This week we are starting a new unit on IMPERIALISM. This is an important unit to follow because it will explain the key events leading up to World War I and World War II. This unit is about empire building and the conquering of regions in Africa and all across the globe. The years between 1870 and 1914 saw the expansion of Western power across the globe. By 1914, the West dominated the entire planet. The major Western players in this New Imperialism were Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States. Two non-Western powers involved in this new era of imperialism were Russia and Japan.
